Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, who identifies as the factional Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has commended the pace of infrastructure development under Abia State Governor Alex Otti, saying the administration has changed the state’s approach to building and renewing public facilities within about three years in office.
Ohuabunwa spoke on Saturday during the 2026 annual conference of members of his Follow Better Organisation in Abia North Senatorial District. The event held at his country home in Amuvi, Arochukwu Local Government Area, in Abia State, located in south-east Nigeria.
He urged Governor Otti to stay committed to his New Abia transformation agenda and to remain focused despite political pressure, arguing that opposition politics in the past had slowed down the state’s progress.
Speaking with journalists at the gathering, the former lawmaker, who also serves as the Pro-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, said the large attendance at the event showed strong support for ongoing development efforts at both state and federal levels. He also thanked members of the Follow Better Organisation for standing by him and for supporting the governor’s programmes.
Ohuabunwa further said that members of the organisation and the PDP could see visible results from the current administration in Abia, especially in infrastructure, and insisted that the performance was clear to supporters across the area.
During the programme, several speakers, including Okafor Okoroafia from Arochukwu, Chief Ukpai Ukiro from Ohafia, Eze Wilson Egbo from Umunneochi, and a woman leader, Lady Uloma Onuoha, expressed appreciation to Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for appointing Ohuabunwa as Pro-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, a federal university in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, in southern Nigeria. They also pledged support for President Tinubu’s administration and for Governor Otti’s government in Abia State.
The massive turnout of members of the Follow Better Organisation, Abia North, at the ceremony has further demonstrated their love and support for the developmental strides of President Bola Tinubu.
Also, the Director-General of the Follow Better Organisation, Ndubuisi Eke, and the Chairman of the organising committee, Sir Owo Eleke, said the annual conference was organised to restate the group’s loyalty and support for Ohuabunwa’s leadership.
They described the senator as a well-known figure in Abia politics and credited him with helping to grow the Follow Better structure, while also showing commitment to the development of Abia State and Nigeria.
