By Omogbolahan Babawale Senator Abdul Ningi of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from Bauchi Central on Monday denied ever saying President Bola Tinubu was operating two different budgets for 2024. This he said in Abuja barely 24hours after his group, Northern Senators’ Forum (NSF) issued a disclaimer to his purported statement, accusing the Tinubu-led Federal Government of running two different budgets. BBC Hausa had reported that Ningi made the submission in an interview he granted the British media icon. It said Ningi spoke under the banner of Northern Senators’ Forum, and claimed that the National Assembly passed N25 trillion as 2024…

By Michael Chibuzo Prior to the 2023 general elections, a new political force emerged in Nigeria under the umbrella of the Labour Party. This was as a result of the decamping of Mr. Peter Obi from the PDP where he has been for nine years to the Labour Party in a bid to appear on the ballot for the 2023 presidential election. The new political force quickly got baptised as the Obidient movement shortly after Mr. Peter Obi displaced other Labour Party Presidential aspirants to clinch the party’s ticket. Before that point, Mr. Peter Obi had carefully crafted a thrifty…
By Nze Chidi Duru The reality of my advocacy over the dwindling value of the Naira is coming nearer home. More than a month ago, I raised a concern over the low values of listed shares on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. My argument then was that because of the vastly depreciated Naira, the value of all of our high-valuation stocks are at best penny stocks if the valuation were done in dollars. This concern is also reflected in my latest article which was circulated soon after the inauguration of the Presidential Economic Advisory Committee by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The…

A Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos had sacked Nwagwu as Aba North State Constituency lawmaker and ordered that Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should withdraw an earlier Certificate of Return handed over to him, after the judges…
