In keeping with his promise to decongest Correctional facilities across the country the Minister for Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has flagged off the release of 4068 inmates who are being held custody due to their inability to pay their court-imposed fines.  While flagging off the initiative at Kuje prison, in Abuja, Tunji-Ojo said that inmates who have fines not exceeding N1 million are qualified to benefit from the ministry’s initiative. The Court of Appeal in Abuja has affirmed the order of the Kano state governorship election petition tribunal which sacked Abba Yusuf, candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), as governor of the state. The Appeal Court, Abuja Division, on Friday, affirmed the victory of Governor Bala Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party in the March 18 governorship election in Bauchi State. The panel of three justices in a unanimous judgment upheld the decision of the Bauchi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal which dismissed the petition of the APC candidate, Sadiq Abubakar challenging the outcome of the election.
