The Bishop of the Sokoto Catholic Diocese, Rev Fr Matthew Kukah, has urged the federal government to interrogate individuals with claims of having close ties with bandits. He spoke against the backdrop of recent questioning of renowned cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, by security agencies over his comments on bandits’ activities. President Bola Tinubu has approved the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund to facilitate effective infrastructure development across the pivotal areas of agriculture, transportation, ports, aviation, energy, healthcare, and education in Nigeria. The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has filed criminal charges against Binance, a leading cryptocurrency exchange platform.  The lawsuit, filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja under case number FHC/ABJ/CR/115/2024, accuses Binance of four separate tax offenses. They include non-payment of Value Added Tax (VAT); failure to file tax returns; non-payment of Company Income Tax (CIT) evasion and “aiding customer tax evasion”. President Bola Tinubu has tentatively placed a ban on government funded foreign trips for ministers, heads of agencies, and other government officials  The ban which will last for three months will become effective April 1st, 2024.
