The crisis rocking the Labour Party has worn a new look following the latest move by the Lamidi-Apapa faction as it approached tribunals seeking to withdraw all cases involving the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi challenging the outcome of the 2023 general election.
The Apapa-led faction is seeking to scuttle the party’s ongoing contention of the electoral process which led to the declaration of the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu as President-Elect.
The move is said to be fueled by convictions from the Apapa-faction that the case in the court lacks merit and it is against the interest of the party.
Disturbed by this development, the Julius Abure-led faction raised an alarm to distance its faction from the move which further exposed the disunity within the party.I
It alleged that the Apapa-led faction took such move only to gain public sympathy.
Recall that the Labour Pary has been embroiled in a leadership tussle ever since Apapa came out to debunk his suspension as a member of the party.
He insisted he remains the acting national chairman of the party, and enjoys overwhelming support from the ‘Obidients’ followers of the party’s presidential candidate.
