Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma has raised the minimum wage for workers in the state to N40,000.
This move comes as a measure to alleviate the hardships brought about by the removal of fuel subsidy.
During a meeting with key stakeholders in Owerri, the state capital, Governor Uzodimma made this announcement.
He also outlined additional measures aimed at tackling the economic challenges faced by the people. These measures include a revolving loan of N5 billion for farmers and provisions for free transportation and medical care.
Expressing his commitment, Governor Uzodimma stated, “There shall be an immediate upward review of the salaries and wages of workers in the state.
The minimum wage is hereby raised to N40,000 with discretionary consequential adjustments.
At least your salaries would be able not only to take you home but also to provide your basic necessities to enable you to make ends meet.”
This move by Governor Uzodimma demonstrates his resolve to prioritize the welfare of the workers in Imo State.
The increase in minimum wage, along with the benefits of the revolving loan, free transportation, and medical care, aims to mitigate the financial burden on the workers and ensure their ability to afford essential needs.
