Defection Rumours Denied Amid Rising Political Tensions
Incumbent Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has once again reaffirmed his steadfast allegiance to the Peoples Democratic Party amid swirling rumours about his political future. Speaking with conviction during the flag-off of the 3.5km Ila township road dualisation, Adeleke said his administration’s focus remains service to the people.
“I am glad that we are here today to flag off the dualization of the Ila township road project despite the lingering uncertainties in the nation. I have vowed to my God and the good people of the State that I am committed to serving them, and I will never be distracted from my vow to serve the people of the State,” he declared.
Adeleke touted infrastructural progress, citing 175km of completed roadworks and ongoing construction work across Osun. The 39km Osogbo-Ikirun-Inisha-Okuku-Ijabe-Ila Odo project was highlighted as another milestone.
“The second phase, which we are flagging off today, is almost the same length as what was completed in 12 years. By the grace of God, we intend to deliver this project within 12 months,” explained the governor.
Elsewhere, APC’s Bola Oyebamiji, visiting the Ijesa-North federal constituency, urged supporters to ignore defection rumours and instead focus on party unity for coming elections. He accused the state government of financial mismanagement, vowing that, “No one will reap the fruit of your labour.”
On the electioneering front, Senator Babajide Omoworare pointed to the APC’s internal disputes as the reason for Adeleke’s 2022 electoral win. He stated his intention to contest the next governorship, referencing his previous undefeated electoral record.
