The Nigerian military has intensified its counter-terrorism push in the North East with a decisive operation that claimed the lives of over 30 insurgents in Borno State.
Confirming the development, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), said the airstrikes were conducted on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Dar-El-Jamal in Bama Local Government Area, following intelligence of fierce battles between terrorists and Nigerian troops.
He explained that the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai deployed surveillance aircraft and combat jets in the mission. Fleeing insurgents were identified, after which three direct strikes were delivered with precision, eliminating dozens of fighters. Ground forces later advanced to reinforce and take control of the area.
Ejodame noted, “The operation highlights the seamless synergy between air and ground forces, demonstrating our commitment to dismantling terrorist networks, protecting vulnerable communities, and restoring stability in the North East.”
Borno remains a volatile flashpoint for Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) militants. Their operations have resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and millions of displaced persons since the insurgency began more than a decade ago.
Although military offensives have recorded significant gains, including reclaiming strategic strongholds in Bama, Konduga, and Marte, security experts caution that sustained collaboration and vigilance are essential to eradicating terrorism from the region.
