The constituents of Kogi Central Senatorial District may soon enjoy full representation in the 10th Senate following fresh developments concerning Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
On Tuesday, the Sergeant-at-Arms of the National Assembly (NASS) in conjunction with security agencies reopened her sealed Office 205 within the Senate Wing, a move that effectively grants her access to the premises again.
This comes after months of uncertainty triggered by her suspension in March 2025. At the time, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senator, was penalized with a six-month ban for protesting against Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s reassignment of her seat on February 20.
Though the suspension lapsed in September 2025, she had remained sidelined as Senate leaders resisted her reinstatement, citing unresolved legal issues. In July, Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja, had declared her suspension unconstitutional and ordered her recall, but the Senate maintained its stance until now.
Her lawyer, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Michael Jonathan Numa, pressed the matter further by threatening to sue the Clerk to the National Assembly (CNA), Kamorudeen Ogunlana, if his client was not readmitted.
Ogunlana insisted his office was not empowered to reverse Senate resolutions, underscoring that only a fresh decision by lawmakers could resolve the matter.
Reports suggest that Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, will sponsor a motion demanding a formal apology from Akpoti-Uduaghan before she is fully reintegrated.
As the Red Chamber prepares to resume on October 7, 2025, the unlocking of her office is viewed as a positive sign for her constituents who have endured months without representation.
