Troops under Operation Hadin Kai have stopped coordinated terrorist attacks in Adamawa and Borno States, showing strong battlefield readiness and air-ground cooperation.
In a statement from the Acting Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North East), Lt. S. A. Atokolo, it was revealed that terrorists attempted to breach a patrol base in Sabon Gari, located in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State, during the early hours of Thursday.
According to Atokolo, “Alert troops engaged the attackers,” while reinforcements from Gulak and the Battalion Quick Reaction Force joined the fight. The attack was stopped without troop casualties or loss of equipment. After the engagement, soldiers swept the area to check for improvised explosive devices to ensure safety for both civilians and troops.
Later that same day, another coordinated attack targeted the Forward Operating Base in Azir, Borno State. Troops, supported by the Nigerian Air Force component and army aerial platforms, met the attackers with heavy firepower that forced them to retreat after a firefight that lasted for more than an hour.
During the incident, explosives damaged troop-carrying vehicles and the CCTV control room, but soldiers maintained control of the base. Several items were recovered, including a mortar tube, mortar bombs, heavy machine gun rounds, and hundreds of 7.62mm NATO rounds.
Atokolo added that intelligence and aerial surveillance tracked fleeing fighters, which allowed follow-up operations that neutralised more militants and weakened their fighting capacity.
The media officer noted that ongoing efforts by Operation Hadin Kai personnel show their commitment to securing the North East, dismantling terrorist cells, and protecting local communities until all threats are cleared.
