Labour Party’s Peter Obi has begun to flood the streets with branded items and food staples to induce voters into backing his unlikely presidential bid.
The development runs counter to his previous claim not to “give shishi” and thus undermines him yet again as a dishonest, duplicitous political figure whose proclaimed values and principles are not absent in his real-life actions.
Obi, a serial decampee who began his political career on the APGA party platform, a party he swore never to leave only to dump it for PDP before making a late switch to the Labour Party, is not known for keeping faith with his promises.
Although he promised not to offer voters anything else beyond his plan for office, he has now commissioned an elaborate purchase and distribution of branded food staples and other materials, effectively guilty of the same charge he has previously criticized other political actors for.
The development marks the latest act of hypocrisy and general dishonesty from the former Anambra Governor. His only observed consistency is his staunch refusal to criticize or break faith with IPOB, the violent secessionist group responsible for several killings in the eastern region of the country.
It hasn’t gone unnoticed as more Nigerians mocked the Labour Party man and expressed their rejection of his duplicity.
One of them said “Obi went from not giving shishi to flooding our streets with cups of rice and garri carrying his photo. Perhaps nothing better illustrates this man as a scammer than this wild turn. He lies willfully and without care for the facts, and has no problem doing a 180-turn from his self-professed high ideals.”
Another said “Obi’s desperation has now seen him doing exactly the same thing he previously criticized. At the of the day, he is just another lying politician trying to scam his way to power. He cannot be trusted.”
