The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has tasked Christian leaders in the state to educate their members on peace during the election season.
Sanwo Olu in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile, said that electoral violence needs to be avoided in 2023 general elections.
He said that clerics can influence their members on having free and fair election, adding that they should also access candidates before selling them to their members.
He said, “Let me appreciate the leadership of the PFN for extending this invitation to me, to address you today (Saturday), and for your constant support and prayers for us in Lagos State. The successes that we are enjoying in Lagos today are in large part due to your prayers and intercession on our behalf, and your generous wisdom and counsel.
“I also implore us to use our pulpits and influence to enlighten members of various congregation about the importance of taking part in the electoral process – assessing the various candidates and their manifestos, going out to vote for credible and competent leaders, and holding to account all those in authority.”
Sanwo-Olu also donated N25m for the ongoing building of the secretariat of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Lagos State chapter.
