Disgraced blogger David Hundeyin and other supporters of Peter Obi, the third-placed candidate of the Labour Party in the last presidential election, are displeased and expressing sadness over the affirmation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s studentship and graduation by the Chicago State University.
The confirmation came yesterday, Thursday, in the institution’s response to a subpoena request filed by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar who finished second in the February presidential contest. Atiku, likewise Obi, is challenging the victory of President Tinubu in court over claims that he presented a fake academic certificate to the electoral body.
However, by stating boldly that Tinubu graduated from the institution, Chicago State University all but eliminated the faint hopes of the president’s challengers of a victory in court. Crucially too, the development came amid a flurry of legal analyses from experts monitoring the case at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) that neither Atiku nor Obi succeeded in substantiating their claims of electoral malpractices and other accusations.
With Tinubu set for a legal victory at the Tribunal, propagandists aligned with Obi who have been spreading baseless claims about his academic records have found the turn of events deeply distressing.
David Hundeyin, a disgraced blogger booted from a UK varsity over sexism and fraud, is leading the protest of the decision, likely due to his realization that his months of targeted abuse of the president will come to nought.
