Delta State Police Command has detained two individuals, Ekene Chroma and Okafor Jonathan, both from Aniocha North LGA, on allegations of gun running. The suspects, residing in Okpanam, were apprehended during a targeted sting operation by the CP Special Assignment Team in Asaba.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed that the operation led to the seizure of two English single-barrel pistols and 110 live cartridges. “Preliminary investigations revealed that they were suspected of being involved in the business of gun running. The suspects and exhibits are presently in custody while the investigation is ongoing,” Edafe said.
In another operation, acting on intelligence about cultist activities, the CP-Special Assignment Team led by ASP Julius Robinson raided the home of Koko Josh in Mosogar. Officers recovered a fabricated Beretta pistol, two locally made guns, and ammunition, along with multiple phones, a laptop, and fetish items.
The investigation expanded, resulting in the arrest of Anthony Kelvin and Gift Amotsuka, both suspected members of the Aiye Confraternity. All suspects remain in custody as inquiries proceed.
Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, thanked the public for their cooperation and called for continued collaboration to enhance security in the state. He provided control room numbers for citizens to report suspicious activities.
