A passionate supporter of the Obidient Movement has sparked online discussions by asserting that the group’s allegiance lies solely with former presidential candidate Peter Obi, rather than any political party, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter) by user @drkenon2 on January 8, 2026, which has garnered over 5,000 views, 418 likes, and numerous replies, an unidentified woman dressed in a red hood delivered a stern message to clarify the movement’s stance. The post’s caption read: “Obidient Movement is for only Peter Obi, not for any political party.”
The woman, speaking deliberately and with emphasis, stated, “The Obidient movement is for Peter Obi and Obi only. There is no Obidients for ADC. There’s Obidient for Peter Obi.” She explained that support for the ADC stems exclusively from Obi’s involvement, adding, “Of course if anybody comes at ADC we will be there to mount roadblock and that is because Obi is in ADC. Obi is the factor.”
Addressing potential scenarios ahead of the 2027 elections, she warned, “If Obi does not win the primaries, Obidients we are not democratic… For Obi we move. We move like before.” She underscored the movement’s independence, saying, “We ain’t loyal to no mother fucking party. We are loyal to just our principal which is Peter Obi. The light we see, the water we drink, the music in our ears.”
The video features overlaid text repeating “NO OBIDIENTS FOR ADC!!!” and includes repeated insets of a smiling Peter Obi. The speaker criticized attempts to tie the movement to the party, noting, “This whole stupid controversy they are tagging me to is trending on Twitter… It only Peter Obi that can address us.”
She concluded by urging viewers to share the video, stating, “Help me share this video… Let me know in comment section. God bless.”
The post has elicited varied responses from X users. One reply from @MarvellousIsra3 stated, “I’m a member of ADC not because of anyone but because of Obi. If Obi don’t get the ticket I’m out of the 2027 elections.” Another user, @NonnyBg, suggested, “Can’t we have Obidient movement party OMP for us alone n leave all these party.” Others echoed agreement, with @BethU20 commenting, “Obedient movement is just for Obi,” and @izee_mdd adding, “Gbam!!”
The Obidient Movement, which emerged during Peter Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign under the Labour Party, has been a significant force in Nigerian politics, mobilizing youth and advocating for good governance. Obi’s reported association with the ADC in recent months has fueled speculation about his 2027 ambitions, though the video highlights potential fractures if party loyalties conflict with personal allegiance to Obi.
As of this report, neither Peter Obi nor ADC officials have publicly responded to the video. The discussion continues to trend on X, reflecting ongoing debates within Nigeria’s political landscape.
