Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria’s First Lady and the wife of President Bola Tinubu, has urged Nigerians to work together across social and faith lines, saying unity is essential for national progress.
She made the call on Thursday, February 12, 2026, in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, while receiving an honour at the Leadership Annual Conference and Awards 2025, an event organised by Leadership Newspaper, a Nigerian media organisation.
Mrs Tinubu, speaking before senior government officials and former national leaders, warned against division and said the country’s future depends on cooperation for the common good. She said: “The future of our nation depends on our willingness to work together across cultural and religious differences for the good of all. For a house divided against itself cannot stand,” she said.
She described the award as a shared recognition, saying it reflected the support and contributions of Nigerians, especially women, young people and community leaders who serve others daily.
The gathering included Dame Patience Jonathan, a former First Lady of Nigeria, and Doctor Amina Mohammed, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), alongside governors, lawmakers, traditional rulers and other senior officials.
Mrs Tinubu also praised Zainab Nda-Isaiah, chair of Leadership Newspaper, for sustaining and expanding the vision of the organisation’s late founder, Sam Nda-Isaiah, while reaffirming that the conference offered a chance to celebrate service and encourage Nigerians to keep building a more stable and prosperous country.
