Popular Nigerian blogger Tunde Ednut has shared an emotional reaction to reports online suggesting that some wealthy and influential figures, including nightlife entrepreneur Obi Cubana and other billionaires, are beginning to back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection bid.
In a post shared on his social media page, Ednut said he was overwhelmed by sadness, explaining that he suddenly began to cry and felt discouraged about the political direction of people he described as important supporters.
“I don’t know why, but tears just dropped from my eyes,” he wrote, adding that it felt to him like “all hope is lost now” because “some of our top big boys have switched to APC.”
The APC, short for the All Progressives Congress, is Nigeria’s ruling political party. Ednut noted that despite his disappointment, he still considers those individuals his people and does not want to publicly attack them.
“They are still my people, and I can’t speak against them,” he said, while insisting that his own loyalty had not changed. He added, “My loyalty is forever, it doesn’t switch. No wahala sha! E pain me Oo!”
Ednut also addressed “Obidients,” the name commonly used for supporters of Peter Obi, Nigeria’s former Anambra State governor and a major opposition figure who ran for president in the 2023 election. He urged them to stay focused, saying that if Obi secures his party’s ticket to run for president again, supporters should stand firmly behind him.
“Obidients, we move,” he wrote. “If Peter Obi wins the primaries and gets the ticket to contest for President, let’s give him our full support. All the best.”
He ended the post on a personal note, saying he was not in a good place emotionally after seeing the development and that it left him feeling drained and weak.
