In a bold move to improve access to clean water, Mal. Muawiyah Yusuf Muye, Media Adviser to Distinguished Senator Abubakar Sani Bello and aspirant for the Agaie/Lapai Federal Constituency seat, has initiated the construction of 20 solar-powered boreholes across multiple communities in the Agaie/Lapai Federal Constituency and Niger South Senatorial District.
The project officially began on Saturday, 7th March, in Agaie town. It aims to tackle one of the most urgent needs of rural residents: reliable and sustainable access to potable water. The construction is expected to be completed within one month, providing immediate relief to thousands of households.
The boreholes are being strategically installed in communities including Muye, Ebbo, Gulu, Lapai, Agaie, Baro, Katcha, Badegi, Kutigi, Enagi, Jima, Minna, Tswabga, Edobaba, Sachi, and other nearby settlements across Niger South. By utilizing solar technology, the initiative ensures long-term reliability and continuous water supply for the communities.
Mal. Muye has long been recognized for his grassroots philanthropy in the Agaie/Lapai Federal Constituency. His contributions span multiple humanitarian projects, from distributing livestock during festive periods to conducting medical outreach and providing targeted community support. These efforts have consistently demonstrated his dedication to the welfare of residents.
The current borehole project is expected to directly benefit between 20,000 and 30,000 people. It will significantly reduce the time and effort women and children spend traveling long distances to collect water, enhancing their daily lives and community wellbeing.
Beyond providing water, the project reflects Muye’s philosophy that leadership must be experienced at the grassroots level before seeking political office. By addressing practical needs and creating lasting solutions, he strengthens his reputation as a community-focused leader committed to sustainable development.

For many in Agaie/Lapai and Niger South, this initiative is more than infrastructure—it is a demonstration that leadership grounded in service, compassion, and tangible impact can transform communities.
