Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it has uncovered new attempts by drug traffickers to move illegal drugs by concealing them inside common consumer products, including yoghurt packs and MP3 players.
The disclosure was made by the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, in a post shared on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, on Sunday, 8 February 2026.
Babafemi said NDLEA operatives detected consignments of methamphetamine hidden in Hollandia yoghurt packs and inside MP3 players during recent operations, pointing to what he described as changing drug-smuggling tactics.
He warned law-abiding citizens to be cautious when travelling and advised them not to accept luggage or parcels from anyone, whether for travel within Nigeria or international trips.
In his words: “We are reminded always to warn law abiding people to avoid collecting any luggage or parcel from anyone on your travels whether local or international.”
He added that videos shared alongside his post showed how the methamphetamine was concealed in the items before NDLEA officers uncovered them.
