President Bola Tinubu has vowed to reclaim Nigeria from the vested interests that have impeded its development.
The President also assured women in the country of his administration’s unwavering commitment.
Tinubu said this during a meeting with the All Progressives Congress Women Leaders from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, led by APC National Woman Leader Dr. Betta Edu.
President Tinubu emphasized that security, healthcare, and industrialization would take precedence in his agenda.
Tinubu highlighted the implementation of numerous policies and programs aimed at positively impacting the citizens.
The introduction of the Students’ Loan Scheme received mention during the meeting with the President reaffirming its role in ensuring stable academic calendars for tertiary institutions.
“We have established a scholarship scheme that guarantees four years of tertiary education,” he further added.
Underscoring the significance of security, President Tinubu acknowledged that women bear the brunt of insecurity worldwide.
He expressed his administration’s commitment to address this issue at the highest level and swiftly put an end to the prevailing insecurity.
President Tinubu also emphasized the imperative of healthcare reform, pledging to revamp health facilities and pursue this objective with utmost determination.
Moreover, the President placed substantial importance on industrialization, assuring the women that their children and relatives would benefit from enhanced employment prospects.
Grateful for the women leaders’ visit, President Tinubu commended them for their unwavering support throughout the campaigns and elections.
He acknowledged their remarkable efforts and promised to recognize their contributions through well-deserved awards.
“You all deserve gold medals because you worked so hard politically, overcoming various obstacles such as fuel scarcity and currency fluctuations. Your children’s future is now secure with the initiatives we are implementing,” he stated.
Assuming the role of ECOWAS Chairman, President Tinubu acknowledged the additional responsibilities this position entails.
He, however, assured the visiting women that it would only serve as further motivation to work tirelessly.
“We will continue striving for a better Nigeria. Your confidence in this administration will not be in vain,” he affirmed.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to an open-door policy, President Tinubu stressed the significance of national unity.
Tinubu encouraged the women leaders to embrace individuals from other parties who now see the brighter future ahead and wish to contribute.
Furthermore, he tasked the APC women leaders with educating the citizens about his administration’s policies and programs, urging them to emphasize that the current challenges are temporary.
“You have a better understanding, exceptional coordination skills, and multitasking abilities. The gains from subsidy removal will be directed towards improving the lives of Nigerians and curbing the exploitation by a few individuals,” the President explained.
Earlier in the meeting, APC National Woman Leader Dr. Edu congratulated the President on his electoral victory and praised the commendable policies of his administration.
Dr. Edu also acknowledged his election as ECOWAS Chairman during the recent summit. Dr. Edu highlighted President Tinubu’s notable achievements as the Governor of Lagos State, particularly the remarkable economic development and infrastructure initiatives.
