The Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, has set the tone for a transformative 2025, leading a series of high-impact engagements and initiatives in January that reinforce NASENI’s role in Nigeria’s industrial and technological advancement.
As part of NASENI’s commitment to strengthening global partnerships, the EVC met with the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, reaffirming collaboration efforts that align with Nigeria’s sustainable development goals. This engagement signals NASENI’s resolve to attract strategic investments and technology partnerships that drive industrial growth.
Recognizing his visionary leadership and contributions to technological progress, Khalil Halilu was named among CEO Scoop’s 2025 Disruptor 50 List. Similarly, THISDAY Newspaper honored him as one of its Young Global Leaders during its 30th-anniversary celebration, further affirming his impact on Nigeria’s innovation ecosystem.
In a move to enhance workplace culture, the EVC inaugurated NASENI’s Good Vibes Team, an internal initiative aimed at fostering a safe, inclusive, and productive environment for all staff. Additionally, he chaired the agency’s first management meeting of the year, reviewing 2024 milestones, assessing project outcomes, and mapping out the agency’s direction for 2025.
NASENI’s efforts in precision manufacturing took a leap forward with progress updates on the Industrial Specialized Machining Centre and CNC Systems, positioning Nigeria for a more competitive industrial future. Additionally, NASENI’s UAV Training Facility project advanced with new reports aimed at strengthening the country’s drone technology capabilities.
On the agricultural front, NASENI signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tiamin Rice to revolutionize irrigation infrastructure, boosting productivity and enhancing food security. A follow-up engagement with the Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) further solidified plans for innovation-driven agricultural development.
The EVC also engaged with key government stakeholders, including a meeting with Mrs. Verheijen Olu, Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Energy, to discuss critical energy initiatives. He led NASENI’s budget defense for the 2025 fiscal year, ensuring continued funding for groundbreaking projects.
Cementing his commitment to national service, Khalil Halilu participated in the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Polo Tournament in Abuja, honoring Nigeria’s fallen heroes. He also reinforced NASENI’s industrial collaborations during a visit to Mr. Aydin Adil Kutr, MD of Zeberced Group.
January wrapped up with NASENI’s Award & New Year Party, where the EVC recognized outstanding staff contributing to Nigeria’s industrialization and technological progress.
