In a recent assembly held at the Olubadan Palace in Oke-Aremo, members of the Council of Traditional Baales gathered to engage with the Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, who stressed the importance of peaceful living among the diverse citizens of Ibadan.
The event saw Oba Akeem Adewoyin, the Ekerin Balogun, standing in for Ladoja, delivering his message that Ibadan’s hallmark remains its harmony across various ethnic, religious, and linguistic boundaries. The designate encouraged every resident to uphold this legacy of mutual respect and camaraderie.
“Ibadanland is known to enjoy peaceful co-existence irrespective of difference in language, religion and tribe. I, therefore urge you all to remain peaceful and be your brothers’ keepers,” he declared.
The meeting was also an occasion to honor the late Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, a venerable monarch and philanthropist who died at 90. Council President Oladapo Atilola led the tribute and assured Ladoja of their full support and loyalty.
Traditional figures such as Senior Chief Lekan Alabi and Chief Monsur Arulogun, among others, were present, signaling a robust endorsement for the incoming monarch’s peaceful reign and community-building efforts.
This engagement underscores the critical role of Ibadan’s traditional institutions in fostering communal peace and concerted progress in Oyo State.
