Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has congratulated Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election in the August 15 governorship poll. Adeleke, who contested under the Accord Party, was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday.
Oyebanji described the outcome as the people’s choice but dismissed suggestions that Adeleke’s victory signals a rejection of President Bola Tinubu or the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 presidential election. The Ekiti governor insisted the Osun result should not be misinterpreted as a referendum on Tinubu’s leadership.
“Certainly not. The people of Osun will massively vote for President Tinubu come January 2027,” Oyebanji was quoted as saying. He maintained that the election outcome reflects localised political dynamics rather than any diminished support for the President’s re-election bid.
