Tinubu Says Nigeria’s Reforms Driving Global Recognition, Promises More Economic Gains

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said Nigeria is earning increased global recognition as a result of his administration’s ongoing reforms, assuring citizens that the full benefits of the economic policies will become more evident in the near future.

The President made the remarks on Thursday while receiving a delegation of the research group, Aseyori Tinubu, led by Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim, at the State House in Abuja.

According to President Tinubu, growing interest from multinational companies in partnering with and investing in Nigeria reflects renewed international confidence in the country’s economic direction. He credited the development to the collective efforts of Nigerians across various sectors who have supported the administration’s reform agenda.

The President also commended Ambassador Ibrahim for what he described as an impressive performance at the United Nations, urging him to remain focused and avoid distractions.

“Your capacity is exceedingly reliable, and your performance at the United Nations is very impressive. You have achieved a lot within a short period, and I am very proud of that,” Tinubu said.

He further encouraged the envoy to intensify efforts toward securing a permanent seat for Nigeria on the United Nations Security Council.

Speaking on the economy, President Tinubu expressed confidence that Nigeria has moved beyond its most difficult economic period.

“I could say the economy of our nation has passed the darkest tunnel. We will continue to push for improvement. The economic recovery is here, proudly. We are running a very stable economy right now,” he stated.

The President highlighted ongoing government interventions, noting that the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) had received additional funding from assets recovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

He also pointed to improvements in industrial production, education and security, saying government policies were yielding positive results.

“We have a production line going on well; we just need to stimulate the economy for growth. We can beat our chests with the bragging rights—no more ASUU strike. Today, our children are in school. The security is getting better, not getting worse,” he said.

Tinubu urged the research group to continue producing policy-driven recommendations that would strengthen Nigeria’s political and economic development.

Earlier, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim praised the President’s leadership, describing the administration’s economic reforms as instrumental in improving Nigeria’s global image and attracting increased foreign investment.

He also credited President Tinubu’s support for his achievements at the United Nations and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing Nigeria’s quest for a seat on the UN Security Council.

The meeting underscored the administration’s position that ongoing reforms are strengthening investor confidence, improving economic stability and enhancing Nigeria’s standing within the international community.
