The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has uncovered another fake agency operating under the name “National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office.”
According to the briefing, the purported office was illegally allocated office space within the premises of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), raising concerns over procedural weaknesses within the public service.
The development is linked to the ICPC’s investigation into the activities surrounding the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) and other suspected irregularities.
The commission has also engaged the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to obtain vital information relating to the fake agency and its operations.
The briefing identified the promoter of the suspected operation as George Buchi Nwabueze, who was found to have operated under several variations of his name, including George Nathan, George Nathan Nwabueze, Hon. George Buchi Nwabueze, Prince George Buchi Nwabueze and George Nwabueze.
The document further stated that the President had been comprehensively briefed on the latest findings arising from the investigation.
Following the developments, the President directed the immediate arrest of Prince George Buchi Nwabueze.
The President also ordered the immediate suspension of three Permanent Secretaries:
– M.S. Danjuma
– Engineer Nadungu Gagare
– Richard P. Pheelangwah
The directives followed the ICPC’s findings concerning the fake agency and its alleged occupation of government premises, as well as broader concerns about weaknesses in administrative procedures within the public service.
