…Olubadan calls for massive turnout
President Bola Tinubu’s administration has once again demonstrated its insatiable appetite for infrastructure development as the Federal Government is set to flag off the dualisation of the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road on Monday, August 24, 2026.
The ceremony, organised by the Federal Ministry of Works, will take place at the Open Field of Legacy Estate along Idi Ayunre on the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road by 11:00 a.m.. The Federal Executive Council (FEC) recently approved the award of the N295.9 billion contract for the 114.5-kilometre project to JRB Construction Limited.
Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, disclosed this in an invitation to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, describing the project as a significant occasion in the Federal Government’s efforts to improve road infrastructure in the region. The initiative is part of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at improving travel experience for road users, strengthening transportation infrastructure and fostering economic growth.
The Ibadan-Ijebu Ode corridor is a vital transport route connecting Oyo and Ogun states, facilitating the movement of people, agricultural produce, goods and services between the two states and beyond. Its dualisation is expected to contribute to improved mobility and greater economic opportunities along the corridor.
Reacting to the development, the Olubadan called on all stakeholders in Ibadanland to attend the flag-off ceremony in large numbers. In a statement issued on Friday, Oba Ladoja urged members of the Olubadan-in-Council, Ibadan Royal Highnesses, Mogajis, Baales, and the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) to turn out for the event. The monarch described the road project as a significant infrastructural development that would enhance connectivity, promote economic activities and ease transportation for residents and motorists.
