… President Tinubu, VP Shettima to Lead Council as Party Charts Re‑election Course
Abuja, Nigeria
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally constituted its Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 elections, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima serving as Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively. Former Zamfara State Governor Senator Abdulaziz Yari has been appointed Director‑General of the campaign, while Governor Hope Uzodimma will serve as Secretary. APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda also takes on the role of Vice Chairman. The campaign structure includes Senator Ajibola Bashiru and Hadiza Bala‑Usman as Deputy and Assistant Secretaries.
Also appointed to the council is Segun Dada as Director of New Media, a pivotal figure who has been at the heart of Tinubu’s digital communications long before the President assumed office. Dada served as the national convener of the PBAT Media Centre during the 2022/2023 campaign, orchestrating a robust online mobilisation strategy widely credited for shaping the narrative in favour of the then‑candidate. His innovative initiatives, including the daily President’s Week in Review, The Tinubu Scorecard series, and targeted newsletters, have continued to define the administration’s engagement with the digital public.
President Tinubu will also work with an advisory body comprising Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Segun Osoba, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker Tajudeen Abass, and Governor Mai Mala Buni have been assigned as Deputy Director‑Generals for the South and North zones, working alongside Senators Bamidele Opeyemi and Jibril Barau. Senator Adams Oshiomhole takes charge of mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff oversees administration. James Abiodun Faleke returns, as Deputy Director‑General for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring, supported by zonal directors across the six geopolitical regions.
The Media and Strategic Communication directorate is coordinated by Minister Mohammed Idris Malagi, alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga, and Lanre Issa‑Onilu, with Dada heading the New Media sub‑directorate under their oversight. Solomon Arowolo will serve as Secretary, New Media.
Five spokespersons have been appointed, led by Dele Alake, with Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun‑Shittu, and Adamu Fanda completing the team.
President Tinubu charged all members to work tirelessly for victory, declaring: “We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress. We are definitely out of the dark tunnel and now at the cusp of reaping the benefits of a prosperous economy. Let us confidently showcase our record and inspire hope in every corner of our nation.”
With a seasoned team and a reinforced digital strategy building on Dada’s pre‑presidency groundwork, the APC expresses strong confidence in retaining the presidency come January 2027.
