Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has declared his intention to lead a national reset, saying his RESET agenda could transform Nigeria within four years if he becomes president in 2027.
Addressing supporters, Makinde described himself as a “resetter” and asked whether they were also ready to reset the country. The audience replied in the affirmative.
He argued that Nigeria can be turned around in four years, citing a former head of state who, according to him, spent only 10 months in office yet ended military rule and ushered in the democratic system the country currently operates.
Makinde said his plan would focus on four areas: security, education, the economy and the socio-political environment. He promised a new security architecture, a fresh path for education, an economy driven by data, science and logic, and a reset socio-political environment—all within four years.
If elected, he said, his administration would begin on May 29, 2027, and run a transitional government of national unity. That government, he added, would culminate in new players and a new agenda for Nigeria’s sustainable development.
He ended his speech by seeking God’s help and asking for blessings on Nigerians and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
