In a significant move to strengthen his executive council, Ondo State Governor Dr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa has nominated 12 new commissioners, including Professor Igbekele Ajibefun, the former Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, and ex-Rector of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic.
The governor’s spokesperson, Ebenezer Adeniyan, released a statement on Thursday confirming that the list had been forwarded to the Ondo State House of Assembly for prompt approval. The governor appealed to the lawmakers for swift action, noting the importance of the appointments to the state’s development.
“I shall be most obliged to the Honourable House for your expeditious action on this request in the overall interest of our dear state,” Governor Aiyedatiwa wrote in his letter accompanying the nominations.
The other nominees are Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye, Ayodele Akande, Alabi Johnson, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, Otunba Adewale Akinlosotu, Idowu Ajanaku, Dr. Oluwaseun Abosede Osamaye, Dr. Tob Loko, Olaolu Akindolire, Sunday Olajide, and Omoyofunmi Segun Henry.
Professor Ajibefun, upon learning of his nomination, expressed his commitment to serve the state diligently. He stated, “I consider this another call to duty in the service and interest of our dear state, and so, I’m very much prepared to give it my very best, God being my strength.”
The confirmation of these nominees is anticipated to bring fresh energy and expertise to Ondo State’s governance framework.
