At the commissioning of the Aguma Palace–Radio Nigeria–New Market Road in Gwagwalada, Vice President Kashim Shettima, acting on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, reiterated the administration’s commitment to both infrastructure development and restoring trust between the government and its citizens.
Shettima declared that the era of empty promises is over, emphasizing that the government is delivering tangible projects that improve the lives of Nigerians while fostering confidence in governance.
“What brings us together on this historic day is more than a road. It is a reminder that no community under this administration is too far to be seen and nobody is too pained to be heard,” he said.
He described the road as a vital link that serves market women, school children, and traders, symbolizing dignity, safety, and prosperity. “The days of empty promises and abundant projects are behind us. We are not just building infrastructure, we are building confidence in governance,” Shettima added.
The Vice President also pointed out that the project was a direct response to community demands, highlighting the administration’s commitment to listening and responding to the people’s needs.
“The projects we are unveiling were not imposed from above. They were nominated by the people of Gwagwalada themselves, and this is the kind of democracy we believe in,” he said.
Shettima highlighted the reforms in the Federal Capital Territory, noting that expanding its revenue base has enabled investments in roads, schools, and hospitals.
He concluded by praising Minister Wike’s governance style, saying, “I thank him for proving that disruption is not a threat to order, but a requirement for progress.”
