The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo-Otin Federal Constituency, Francis Eniade, has alleged that he and his aides were attacked by suspected thugs at a police station in Okuku, Osun State, on Wednesday night.
According to Eniade, his convoy was waylaid while returning from Inisa by suspected thugs and security personnel allegedly attached to the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun. Sensing danger, he directed his driver to speed to the Okuku Divisional Police Station for safety. However, he claimed that Egbedun’s security details and suspected thugs invaded the station, where he narrowly escaped, but his driver was wounded and vehicles were damaged.
Eniade has called for a thorough investigation and the arrest of all those involved.However, Speaker Egbedun, through his Chief Press Secretary, Olamide Tiamiyu, denied the allegation. Tiamiyu countered that Eniade had earlier threatened residents of Egbedun’s constituency and attempted to attack the Chairman of Odo-Otin Local Government Area with men dressed as police officers. He claimed residents resisted the attack, forcing Eniade and his entourage to flee. Two of the “fake policemen” were allegedly arrested and taken to the DSS.
The council chairman, Adewale Adeyinka, also gave his account, stating he encountered Eniade’s convoy and later contacted the Speaker, who advised him to return to the police station for protection.
