As the final judgement of the Presidential election petition tribunal gets closer, fresh plots by certain individuals to take advantage of the moment to cause mayhem in a repeat of the 2020 ENDSARS arson, has been uncovered.
According to our source, prominent characters who featured in the October 2020 EndSars protests that saw to a situation of near anarchy and despair, evident in the destruction of lives and properties as well loss of lives of security agents and also the burning of police formations across the country are currently uniting and planning on staging protests with intents of completing their mission.
The finalization of the plan was made on account of the defense put up by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Bola Ahmed Tinubu/Kashim Shettima who are respondents in the ongoing matter at the PEPT with Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN as the lead counsel that has made it clear that the petition filed by by both the PDP and the Labour Party lacks enough substance and as such will be dismissed.
It will be recalled that the Labor Party headed to the tribunal praying that the winner, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, should be disqualified because he couldn’t get 25% in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja among other petitions.
The legal representatives of APC and the President has however argued these in court with absolute clarity leaving the case of 25% in FCT as the only one left to cling on to.
“It was becoming a lost cause even before the final judgement was made and having taken cognizance of this, they are already planning to cause chaos using the judgement as an excuse. Their plan is to misconstrue some of the claims made by APC’s lawyers in their final address by using social media to heat up the polity” our source confirmed.
Contained in the written address of Chief Wole Olanipekun is a clause where the respondents (APC and Bola Tinubu /Kashim Shettima) argued that; …”due to the fact that there was no punctuation (comma) in the entire section 134(2)(b) of the constitution, particularly, immediately after the ‘States’ and the succeeding ‘and’ connecting the FCT with states. In essence, the reading of the subsection has to be conjunctive and not disjunctive, as the Constitution clearly makes it so. Pressed further, by this constitutional imperative, the FCT is taken ‘as if’ it is the 37th State, under the virtue of section 299 of the Constitution. With much respect, any other interpretation different from this with lead to absurdity, chaos, anarchy and alteration of the of the very intention of the legislature…”
This has since been given misleading and scrupulous interpretations by several sections of the media insinuating that the President is threatening to burn down the country if the Tribunal does not uphold his victory in the February 2023 presidential Elections.
These misleading reports have since been published by some media outlets and amplified by opposition characters through the social media and as well as attacks and abuses unleashed on Chief Wole Olanipekun on social media majorly by the Labour Party and Peter Obi supporters.
Podium Reporters exclusively gathered that there are huge media spendings by certain individuals to amplify these false narratives in a bid to heat the polity and prepare a ground for protests that will lead to anarchy reminiscent of the 2020 own.
Our sources gathered that prominent characters that participated in the ENDSARS arson have reportedly been commissioned to kick start plans in earnest for protests that will lead to breakdown of law and order across the country in the event the Tribunal upholds Tinubu’s victory.
“They will be using some of the ENDSARS heroes. Those ones that have been trained internationally in the acts of causing disruption through strategic media placements. I don’t want to mention names but of course, you know those who have been enlisted in international trainings because of their contributions to the ENDSARS destructions” concludes our source.
