The suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police DCP, Abba Kyari, will today know his fate on the attempt by the Federal Government of Nigeria to extradite him to the United States of America where he is expected to face fraud allegations over his controversial ties with Ramon Abbas ‘HushPuppi’ who is standing trial in the country for criminal conspiracy to launder money fraudulently obtained from business emails.
The Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, acting on behalf of the Federal Government filed the extradition charges against Kyari at the Abuja High Court, praying the court to sanction his extradition to America.
Justice Inyang Ekwo will deliver the verdict, potentially opening another chapter in the prosecution of the nation’s disgraced super cop previously known for his crime busts and high-profile arrests.
The AGF, Abubakar Malami (SAN) filed the extradition charges under the Extradition Act and is marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/249/2022. It was in response to an indictment filed by a jury in America against Kyari with the approval of the US District Court, demanding that Kyari should stand trial for conspiracy to commit wire fraud, money laundering and identity theft.
