In a significant move toward improving healthcare infrastructure in Nigeria, the Federal Government has approved the disbursement of N25 billion through the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF).
This allocation, championed by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, reflects the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda to enhance healthcare outcomes for Nigerian women, children, and vulnerable populations.
The N25 billion fund is earmarked for direct facility financing and workforce incentives across states.
It aims to bolster healthcare infrastructure and support healthcare workers at the grassroots level.
Implementation and Gateways: The disbursement process will be facilitated through key gateways:
National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA): Responsible for planning, management, and implementation of primary health care.
National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA): Ensures equitable access to healthcare services. NHIA will allocate a portion of the funds to provide financial protection for the poorest and most vulnerable populations.
A dedicated email address and hotline will be established for Nigerians to report any misuse or deviations related to fund disbursement. Active citizen participation will help monitor fund implementation and ensure transparency.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration remains committed to ensuring that every Nigerian has access to high-quality healthcare services.
By prioritizing healthcare infrastructure and financial protection, this initiative aims to create a healthier Nigeria where quality healthcare is accessible to all. Let us collectively work toward a future where no one is left behind in their pursuit of well-being.
