In a security precaution linked to its ongoing military operations in Iran, Israel has temporarily closed all its embassies worldwide, suspending consular services for Israeli citizens abroad, according to official statements released on Friday.
The Foreign Ministry has requested that Israelis overseas complete an online form to update their whereabouts and circumstances. It also advised citizens to avoid public displays of Israeli or Jewish symbols, refrain from posting travel details on social media, and to avoid attending large public events related to Israel. Those needing urgent help should contact the ministry’s situation room.
The embassy closures follow Israel’s large-scale strikes on Iranian military and nuclear facilities, which reportedly killed top Iranian commanders, including Armed Forces Chief of Staff Mohammad Bagheri and IRGC Commander Hossein Salami. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei responded with a stern warning of retaliation, stating Israel had “prepared a bitter fate for itself.”
The global diplomatic fallout includes increased security measures in countries like Germany and Sweden, where police presence has been heightened around Jewish and Israeli sites. U.S. President Donald Trump has publicly supported Israel’s actions, attributing the strikes to Iran’s refusal to comply with nuclear negotiations and warning of potentially harsher attacks if Tehran does not return to talks.
