The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has revealed plans to officially launch its campaign for the July 12 local government elections. The campaign will begin with a flag presentation ceremony for the party’s candidates, scheduled for Tuesday at the APC State Secretariat in Ogba.
In a statement issued on Saturday, APC Publicity Secretary Mr. Seye Oladejo detailed that the campaign efforts have been strategically decentralized across the three senatorial districts of Lagos State—East, Central, and West. Given the extensive size of Lagos West, it has been further divided into two zones to facilitate more effective campaigning.
“The flag-off ceremony will be witnessed by party chieftains and elected and appointed officials of the party across the three tiers of government,” Oladejo stated. He also noted that the party had earlier mandated the formation of Local Organising Committees (LOCs) within the local governments to spearhead grassroots mobilization, ensuring the campaign reaches all corners of the state.
The APC’s campaign will highlight the significant achievements and social interventions of the outgoing local government administrations, emphasizing the party’s progressive agenda and commitment to further development. Oladejo encouraged all voters to participate actively in the electoral process.
He added, “The campaign will end a day before the elections in accordance with the extant laws.”
The party’s candidates for Chairmanship, Vice Chairmanship, and Councillorship positions across the 20 Local Government Councils, 37 Local Council Development Areas, and 377 wards were selected during primaries conducted on May 10.
