Reno Omokri, known for his previous role as an aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, has voiced strong support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, highlighting that Tinubu is actively delivering on reforms long promised by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a detailed statement released on Tuesday, Omokri criticized the media team of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for launching “unwarranted attacks” against him, despite his consistent respect for Atiku. Omokri remarked, “There is absolutely no reason for those around Waziri Atiku Abubakar to fight with someone who only has the utmost respect for the former Vice President and has never had an unkind word to say about him overtly or covertly.”
He justified his political stance by pointing out that Tinubu’s government is fulfilling key PDP policy goals, including the removal of fuel subsidies, the flotation of the Naira currency, the devolution of power to states, and the provision of student loans. “Our goal is Nigeria’s progress,” Omokri emphasized.
Omokri further argued that political progress should transcend party affiliations, stating, “It does not matter if the cat is Black or White, as long as it catches mice, and it matters not if the party in power is APC or PDP, as long as it delivers progress for the Nigerian nation.”
Highlighting the historical link between Tinubu and Atiku, Omokri said, “President Bola Tinubu and Waziri Atiku are both of the 1989 Social Democratic Party stock, and there is little or no difference between them.”
Responding to allegations about his loyalty, Omokri assured that he has never compromised confidential information nor sought personal advantage. Despite the attacks from Atiku’s camp, Omokri vowed to remain respectful and restrained, stating, “I choose to suffer the insults hurled at me without any retaliation. I am only observing restraint out of respect, not out of cowardice.”
He concluded by affirming his readiness to defend Tinubu against political rivals, particularly noting, “As long as Obi takes on President Tinubu, I will tackle him.”
