President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Muslims across the country on the celebration of this year’s Eid-el-Maulud, urging them to reflect on and embrace the virtues and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President said the occasion should go beyond commemorating the birth of the Holy Prophet to serve as a period of introspection, prayer and learning.
Tinubu highlighted devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility and selflessness as some of the exceptional virtues exemplified by Prophet Muhammad, urging Muslims to deliberately incorporate these values into their daily lives.
“The Muslim faithful should make deliberate effort to adhere to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad. There are great lessons of devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility and selflessness that we can all learn from the life of the Prophet,” the President said.
He also called on religious leaders to use the Maulud period to pray for Nigeria and encourage their followers to translate the lessons from the Prophet’s life into greater commitment to the nation.
The President further urged Muslims celebrating the festival to extend support and compassion to the needy and vulnerable, in keeping with the spirit of the occasion.
He also called for prayers against insecurity and other challenges affecting parts of the country, stressing the need for continued hope and collective commitment to the nation’s wellbeing.
