BADAGRY, NIGERIA: The ruling party has finished its primary elections with major success across the country. However, residents of Badagry are making a strong appeal for fairness regarding their representative, 40-year-old Hon. Prince Sesi Whingan Oluwaseun.
According to reports monitored by Podium Reporters, the people of Badagry came out in massive numbers to vote for Whingan. His supporters note that this huge turnout was a natural reward for his hard work and not the result of force or financial gain.
As a dedicated lawmaker, Whingan has been very active in the Federal House of Representatives. He has quickly responded to national and local issues by sponsoring several important bills.
His national efforts include the Decarbonisation Bill, which has passed its second reading to help protect the environment. He also introduced the Internet Child Pornography Prevention Bill to protect children, the Palm Oil Development Bill to boost trade, and the Cancer Registry Bill to gather data and save lives.
Additionally, he pushed for critical updates to the Petroleum Industry Act and the Central Bank of Nigeria Act to improve the economy.

For his local community, he sponsored a bill to create the University of Technology in Badagry, which is now in its third reading. He also proposed the creation of the Nigeria French Language School to improve regional relations.
Beyond bills, Whingan has moved urgent motions to solve immediate problems. He called for a strict investigation into dead state refineries that have consumed over 18 billion dollars without results.
He also moved to stop illegal roadblocks, extortion, and harassment on the Lagos to Badagry to Seme Expressway to keep the roads safe. Furthermore, he asked for a review of the Nigeria Customs Service operations in the region and moved a motion to stop a cholera outbreak and fix power issues in Badagry West LCDA.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is known as a leader who heavily supports young politicians in their journey to leadership. Supporters view Prince Sesi Whingan as one of these bright young stars whose skills and grassroots support are very clear.
Despite his camp celebrating a big win at the recent primaries, there is now confusion and fear that his victory might be ignored due to an oversight.
Supporters are calling on the party to encourage young and performing leaders to grow. They are asking the party to let the young breathe, pointing to his many landmark projects as proof that he deserves to keep representing his people.
