Hon. Sultan Bello, the National Youth Leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has formally resigned from the party with immediate effect. The resignation was communicated in a letter addressed to the Chairman of Ja’oji Gyadi Gyadi Arewa Ward, Tarauni Local Government Area, Kano State.
In the letter dated September 24, Bello cited extensive consultations, careful consideration, and deep personal reflection as reasons for his departure. He expressed gratitude to the ADC leadership, stakeholders, and members for the opportunity to serve and contribute to the party’s growth over his 2022–2026 tenure. He respectfully requested that his resignation be accepted and his name removed from the membership records immediately.
Notably, Bello extended profound appreciation to his principal, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, CON, for his guidance, trust, and support. This mention highlights the ongoing internal realignments within the opposition.
The resignation delivers a fresh political headache for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. Atiku has reportedly been courting the ADC and other smaller parties to build a broad coalition ahead of the 2027 elections. The loss of a key national youth figure signals growing cracks within the party, complicating efforts to consolidate a unified opposition front. Bello wished the party continued success while affirming his immediate exit.
