Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on northern-based professionals in the creative industry to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, describing the President’s return to office as important to national unity and Nigeria’s prosperity.
Shettima made the call on Wednesday when he received a delegation of Northern Performing Artists under the auspices of Triple-R For Renewed Hope at the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign office in Abuja.
The Vice President said the North stood to benefit significantly from the Tinubu administration’s initiatives in the creative economy, noting that the Federal Government was implementing policies aimed at empowering local talent, preserving cultural heritage and creating economic opportunities through the creative arts.
According to him, President Tinubu deserves the support of the North, while assuring northern artists, filmmakers and musicians that the administration would continue to introduce targeted interventions to support the growth of the entertainment industry in the region.
Shettima urged the creative industry professionals to remain committed to the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the APC, saying the benefits of ongoing reforms would continue to manifest across various sectors in the coming months and years.
He also stressed the importance of reciprocal support from stakeholders in the North to ensure the continued implementation of the administration’s programmes and policies.
Earlier, Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, said the administration’s bid for re-election would be anchored on its record of achievements, urging support groups and individuals to assess the government based on its performance.
Yari also dismissed claims that the North had been excluded from appointments and development projects under the Tinubu administration, insisting that the region had been fairly treated and remained an integral part of Nigeria’s democratic process.
Former Katsina State Governor and Deputy Director-General, Parliamentary Mobilization, APC Presidential Campaign Council, Aminu Bello Masari, commended the creative professionals for their decision to support President Tinubu and other APC candidates.
Masari said the programmes and policies of the Tinubu administration were positively affecting the creative sector, urging professionals to take advantage of emerging opportunities to improve their livelihoods.
Former Kano State Governor and APC National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, also thanked the group for its support and called for justice, fairness and inclusiveness ahead of the 2027 elections.
Ganduje described Triple-R For Renewed Hope as one of the organic support groups of the APC, while advocating greater investment in the entertainment industry through infrastructure development and training for emerging artistes in northern Nigeria.
In his remarks, President of Triple-R For Renewed Hope, Alhaji Dauda Kahutu Rarara, pledged the group’s support for the re-election of President Tinubu and other APC candidates across the North.
Rarara said northern creatives were united in their support for the President, stressing that their position was based on what he described as the administration’s performance and its impact on the creative sector.
The National Chairman of the group, Alhaji Lawan Ahmad, and its Secretary, Alhaji Ahmad Bifa, separately reaffirmed their commitment to mobilising support for President Tinubu and APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
They also appealed to the Federal Government to support the reorganisation of the creative industry in northern Nigeria, particularly through improved infrastructure and measures to enhance the welfare of practitioners.
