President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to support the continuation of his administration’s economic reforms, pledging to consolidate the gains of ongoing policies and create greater opportunities for prosperity as the All Progressives Congress (APC) formally flagged off its presidential campaign in Kaduna ahead of the 2027 general election.
Addressing party leaders, governors, supporters and other stakeholders at the campaign rally on Saturday, Tinubu expressed confidence that his administration’s policies would lay a stronger foundation for economic recovery, national development and an improved standard of living.
The President said his second term would build on the progress already recorded, with a renewed focus on growth, prosperity and a better future for Nigerians.
“We promise you a better future, a better tomorrow,” Tinubu assured the gathering.
He described the 2027 election as an opportunity for Nigerians to sustain the direction of his administration, urging voters to support the APC as it seeks to deepen reforms and accelerate development across the country.
Reflecting on his political journey and the support he received from Kaduna State in the 2023 election, the President expressed gratitude to the people for their confidence in him and appealed for another mandate to continue his work.
“You gave me joy to remember the victory you gave me to become president. I come again to thank you for that again. To seek your mandate for the second term,” he said.
Tinubu also defended his administration’s efforts to address the country’s economic challenges, insisting that the government was working to tackle poverty and hunger rather than ignore the difficulties confronting citizens.
“We are trying to eradicate it,” the President said, responding to opposition criticism over hunger and poverty.
He maintained that the reforms were intended to move Nigeria away from a system that, in his view, encouraged corruption, smuggling and the manipulation of fuel subsidy payments.
“Fuel subsidy is in our past. No more corruption. No more falsification of invoices, no more lies, no more smuggling,” Tinubu declared.
The President further praised APC governors for their contributions to development in their respective states, citing infrastructure delivery and the regular payment of workers’ salaries as areas of progress.
“Our governors are working. I am proud of them. They are developing,” he said.
He urged Nigerians to assess the competing political options based on their capacity to deliver development and build a stronger economy, stressing the need for continuity in the country’s reform process.
The President also called on eligible voters to obtain and protect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate actively in the 2027 elections.
Appealing directly to APC supporters, PBAT urged them to mobilise for the party’s candidates across all levels of government, including the presidential, governorship, National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly elections.
He thanked the people of Kaduna for their warm reception and commended party leaders and young Nigerians for their participation in the campaign flag-off.
Tinubu also paid tribute to Nigeria’s departed founding leaders, acknowledging their contributions to the country’s independence and offering prayers for the repose of their souls.
The Kaduna rally marks a major step in the APC’s mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general election, as the ruling party seeks to secure a fresh mandate for Tinubu and sustain its reform and development agenda.
