Nigeria has recorded significant milestones in its electricity sector in the past few days with the national grid reaching a peak power generation of 5,801.84 megawatts (MW) and a maximum daily energy generation of 128,370.75 megawatt-hours (MWh). These two peaks are the highest ever attained in Nigeria’s history. The supreme court has affirmed the judgment of a federal high court that barred the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the accountant-general of the federation from releasing statutory monthly allocations to Rivers state.
