Nigerian activist and ADC chieftain Aisha Yesufu is currently in a major public dilemma after a wave of viral video clips mercilessly slammed youths joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC), with critics declaring they “should be ashamed of themselves.”
The firestorm was lit by Pastor Okezie J. Atañi (@Onsogbu), who tagged Yesufu directly and wrote:
“Aisha WEREY Yesufu @AishaYesufu your people are roasting you here oooo”
The main video clip attached to the post features a voice declaring:
“The youth that are involved in the ADC should be ashamed of theirselves.”
A top reply amplified the attack with three additional video clips, zooming in on Aisha’s age and role:
“The werey said @AishaYesufu is 50 so the youths should leave her alone; I guess the idiots thinks Obi is 30. These are lunatics not worthy of living amongst humans.”
The timing is particularly stinging for Yesufu, who was recently appointed Deputy Chairman of the ADC Membership Registration Committee and has been aggressively mobilising young Nigerians to join the party. Only days earlier, the same Pastor Okezie had publicly called her out on the party’s online registration portal, writing:
“Dear Aisha WEREY Yesufu @AishaYesufu you are the Deputy Chairman, Membership Registration Committee of the ADC, Can you update ‘Nigerians’ about the online membership drive???”
As the clips rack up thousands of views, reactions are pouring in fast — some defending her (“Confused people”), others piling on (“Well deserved”), and many mocking the entire drama as “noise that will not go beyond Twitter.”
Yesufu, who just months ago stood before ADC youths and declared “MR. PETER OBI WILL NOT WALK ALONE… I, Aisha Yesufu, will be that person!”, has not yet responded to the latest barrage.
The activist who once rallied millions of young Nigerians now finds herself roasted by the very energy she helped create — a painful reminder that in Nigerian politics, today’s mobiliser can quickly become tomorrow’s meme.
