The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has vowed to put an end to Nigeria’s security challenges as he campaigns in the president’s home state of Katsina against the background of a tragic bandits attack.
In front of thousands who gathered at the Muhammadu Dikko stadium to cheer the candidate and President Buhari who attended the event alongside other party leaders, Tinubu expressed his readiness to tackle the twin challenge of banditry and insurgency by strengthening the country’s armed forces and auguring socio-economic growth, particularly jobs provision, to starve the violent anti-state actors of recruits.
“We will definitely deal with them. They will not go scot-free. Whether they derive some moment of joy or satisfaction, we are saying we are courageous, we are strong, we believe in Allah, and we will defeat them. They are evil. We will eliminate them,” Tinubu said.
In his own remark, President Buhari also commiserated with the people, whilst assuring them of Tinubu’s capacity to build on his administration’s efforts to equip the armed forces, secure lives and properties, and cause prosperity.
He reaffirmed his total support for the candidate, saying that he has been a trusted ally for many years and that his emergence would represent the best outcome for the country in the general elections.
