The Special Adviser on Media and Strategic Communication of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Dele Alake has described party’s presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the man to beat come the polls on Saturday.
He said this while speaking on Channels TV’s ‘The 2023 Verdict’ on Thursday.
According to Alake, Tinubu has already won the trophy of the election, describing Labour Party’s counterpart, Peter Obi as a fluke and Atiku Abubakar of the PDP as a serial loser.
Alake also dismissed misgivings about the health fitness of Tinubu, stating that the APC flagbearer has gone to more interactive sessions and town hall meetings than any of his contender for the presidency.
Alake said, “There is no candidate that has traversed the length and breadth of Nigeria as much as Tinubu. There is no candidate that has gone into interactive sessions, the town hall meetings, that others copied, Tinubu initiated it with the famous Lagos Town hall meeting at Eko Hotel. That was the first town hall meeting by any candidate in this campaign season. And subsequently he has done 15 across the country, across the broad strata of civil society: farmers, miners, labour unions, he has interacted with these people and he has gone everywhere.
“No candidate if we are honest, has worked hard as half as Bola Ahmed Tinubu in this campaign season. Now can anybody who does not have a good health do that?”
On why political opponents keep harping on Tinubu’s health, Alake said that it was down to lack of substance and germane issues from both Obi and Atiku’s camp to outdo the APC presidential candidate.
He said, “When you know you don’t have any serious issue of substance to discuss in this campaign, you resort to negativities, invectives and expletives because there’s no substance.
“They don’t have substance, Atiku does not have substance, Obi does not have substance, Obi is one of the flukes thrown up by this campaign.
“Atiku has been one of the most consistently inconsistent politician Nigeria has ever witnessed. Since 1993, Atiku has been a serial loser in this game.
