The Governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello has urged Nigerians to pray for the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, and the country ahead of the May 29 transition.
Tinubu was elected as the president-elect on February 25 election and seek for a smooth transition.
Bello in a congratulatory message to Muslims after the successful completion of the Ramadan Fasting.
He said, “We gathered here today to pray to God in celebration of Eid-el-fitri.
“Most importantly let’s pray for our president elect, Ahmed Tinubu and his Vice, Sen Shettima and for a smooth transition.
“It’s very important that we pray for our leaders, from our President, Muhammadu Buhari, the governors, local government Chairmen and traditional rulers.
“Just like the chief Immam, Shiek Dahiru Useni, who led us in prayer, it’s all about unity and peace of Nigeria our country, so we shouldn’t relent in prayers, ” he advised.
Bello added that people should maintain peace after the Holy month.
He also prayed that the next transition in Kogi would be very smooth and peaceful.
“My message to my people is for them to keep maintaining peace and order for the attainment of the desired growth and development of our state,” he said.
He expressed gratitude to God for making it possible for him and all Muslim Ummah to be part of this Eid-el-fitri marking the end of Ramadan Fasting and prayers.
Bello, who said his year’s Eid Prayer at the Square was his last as governor, urged kogites to pray and support APC’s candidate, Ahmed Usman-Ododo, to succeed him to do more for the state.
“I urge you all to support Ododo, pray and vote for him during the Nov 11 governorship election to emerge victorious as governor.
