Socio- Political commentator and former member, Ondo state House of representatives Mr. Tomide Akinribido has revealed how Peter gave cash envelopes to prospective delegates at PDP secretariat in Ondo state in a bid to win the party presidential ticket
Mr. Akinribido had earlier posted a tweet with his Twitter handle @MrTomide asserting that the monetization of electoral process remains one of the bane of corruption in government.
He tweeted:
“Facts are sacred and reality does not care about your ignorance or warped
bias. I repeat;
1. no senator who spends 600m-1 billion naira on election will win and push or allow a pay cut.
2. No Reps member who spends 200-500m on election will win and push or accept a pay cut.
3. No assembly member who spends 30-100m on election will win and push or accept a pay cut.
Whatever you say or feel won’t change these stubborn fact and reality. The solution is to STOP excessive monetisation of the electoral process BY NIGERIANS.”
Several reactions and comments trailed the message amongst which there were some users presumably obidients who made efforts to score cheap points suggesting Obi doesnt give bribes.
In response @MrTomide tweeted:
“Peter Obi gave cash envelopes to prospective delegates when he visited Ondo state PDP secretariat in Akure on Sunday,April 24th 2022. I know because I was given the envelope too,which I gave to “party boys” hanging around the secretariat”
With several Obidients seemingly triggered by the tweet given the disparaging comments and some threatening to sue Mr. Akinribido furthered clarified reiterating the fact that he was a recipient of cash envelope from Peter Obi:

I WAS GIVEN CASH ENVELOPE BY PETER OBI a.k.a OKWUTE OF MAD TWITTER USERS, WHEN HE CAME FOR CONSULTATION AT ONDO STATE PDP SECRETARIAT IN AKURE ON SUNDAY APRIL 24TH 2022. PETER OBI ALSO GAVE CASH ENVELOPES TO ALL DELEGATES DURING HIS TOUR TO THE 36 STATES. ????????????????????????”
