Dr. Shetty’s appointment comes with high expectations as she is seen as a prominent voice that will effectively represent women and young individuals within the Federal Executive Council.
Starting her educational journey in Kano, Ms. Shettima laid the groundwork for her profession by pursuing her studies at the School of Physiotherapy in BUK, where she excelled and earned a distinguished BSc degree.
Her early professional experiences brought her to Kano, where she worked briefly at both Dala Orthopedic and Malam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospitals. However, her pursuit of knowledge prompted her to seek further education in London. There, she obtained a Masters degree from the University of East London, specializing in sports physiotherapy.
During her time in London, Dr. Shetty had the exceptional opportunity to join the esteemed medical team at the London Olympics. Collaborating closely with renowned athletes, including the legendary Usain Bolt from Jamaica, she gained invaluable expertise and insight in her field.
In addition to her notable educational achievements, Dr. Maryam Shetty holds a certificate as a practitioner of Kingian Non-Violence, inspired by the influential Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., which she obtained from Emory University in the United States. Furthermore, she has also been honored with a certificate in Public Policy Challenges of the 21st Century from the University of Virginia.
