Bayelsans have opposed the re-election of Governor Duoye Diri ahead of the November 11 Gubernatorial Polls in the state.
Diri, who is seeking re-election on the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has come under fire from Bayelsans who asserted that the governor hasn’t merited a second term.
Taking to Twitter, a disgruntled citizen stated, “Bayelsa state is the most useless state in the country.”
The sentiment reflects a common sentiment among Nigerians who feel that the state has not made adequate progress despite generous financial allocations and a relatively small population of less than 3 million.
With concerns about the state’s development and economic growth, citizens are questioning whether Governor Diri is the right leader to steer Bayelsa State towards progress.
Many believe that his performance thus far has not been up to par, leaving them skeptical about his ability to effectively address the challenges the state faces.
Bayelsa state, despite its relatively small population of under three million people, receives a substantial amount of financial support on a monthly basis.
However, many citizens feel that their leaders have not effectively utilized these resources to uplift the state and tackle the prevailing challenges.
