The Member representing Isialangwa North and South federal constituency of Abia State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, has reportedly empowered some of his Constituents with cassava stems, yam seedlings, maize and cucumber to mark his one year in the national assembly.
Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, who was elected on the platform of the Labour Party, distributed these seeda/seedlings to the beneficiaries during a ceremony held at Isialangwa.
The lawmaker gave each beneficiary approximately 10 pieces of cassava cuttings, two yam seedlings in addition to other seeds such as maize seeds contained in small nylon bags.
The empowerment programme by the Labour Party lawmaker has generated debate among Nigerians on social media, with many questioning what would be the impact of giving farmers only 10 cassava cuttings to cultivate on overall agricultural productivity.
Hon. Ginger Onwusibe previously served as lawmaker representing Isialangwa North in the Abia State House of Assembly under the platform of the PDP between 1999-2023.
